‘Chioma Okoye Allegedly Assaulted For Portraying Life Story In New Movie

The nollywood producer Chioma Okoye
voices out after being allegedly beaten and
held in custody following a
misunderstanding over a movie she
produced, titled ‘Lagos Men’ based on a true
life story of a woman (named withheld).
According to her lawyer, the movie was
produced under an agreement made by
Chioma Okoye and the woman whose story
the movie is based on and, she didn’t go
against any agreement made between the
two parties in the contract. He said, “It must
be clearly established that the film did not
contravene any known law, statute, rules of
motion pictures, injurious to reputation,
slanderous or libelous. Rather it’s a story
created to bring to life people’s rough tides,
calculated at superb imagination engagement
and to promote good societal values. We
have taken steps to protect our client and we
shall further seek redress in the court of law
on her behalf. They should not conceive that
the stupid chance they had on our client that
faithful morning, their intimidation, coercion,
and threat might deprive her of her rights
and all this success, newly appreciated and
newly illumined by her fans and the general
public.”
According to reports, the Police Inspector in
Ajah Police Division was employed to force
producer Chioma Okoye to take down the
series and stop further viewing. Chioma
Okoye was also offered #3,000,000 to shut
down the movie.
