Isn’t it the saying that there is honour even amongst
thieves? When was it Nigerians saw anything like this
hurricane convulsing the House of Representatives?
Apparently, even with all the emphasis on CHANGE
during the elections, our legislators never believed that
a new Sheriff had hit town.
How would they, with Bukola Saraki riding roughshod,
not only over the APC but even insulting the president
in the process?
Nor had Dogara a whiff of it either, but he was smarter,
and a lot more respectful. So he soft-pedaled and
aligned with the party. But collectively, they believed
that what Ndume called their internal mechanism – read
chop and clean mouth – would still be the order of the
day.
So off they went, padding and padding, believing they
could make the Buhari budget in their own image and,
like in President Jonathan’s days, every machete was
out, cutting slices of a budget that they knew was going
to be funded through massive external borrowing. But
who cares?

I can hear Nigerians asking these con artists when
exactly they started being, not only so people -friendly,
but caring and responsible. If they were half as
considerate in an economy where so many are hurting,
they would long have stopped being amongst the
highest paid legislators in the world as I would show
below.
Confident that they would successfully pad the Buhari
budget, change or no change, since this has been a
long running practice in the National Assembly, dating
back to the Obasanjo era when that President hauled
some of them before the courts, Abdulmumin alleged
that the House leadership “fraudulently shortchanged
the House by taking away N40 billion out of the N100
billion allocated for constituency projects and
distributing same to themselves even without the
approval of the House”.
It did not stop there as, according to Jibrin, “10
standing committees of the House inserted over 2000
projects worth N284 Billion”, into a budget President
Buhari was agonising over its funding. Rationalising
this public odium, however, hear how the Chairman,
House Information Committee, Abdulrazak Namdas
insulted Nigerians.
According to him “given the workings of the budget
process, the House cannot be accused of padding
because there is nothing like that.’ In his puerile
explanation, this same man, who Tunji Abayomi, a
doctorate degree holder in Law recently took through a
learning process on budget making on Channels TV,
said the following: “Section 4 empowers the National
Assembly to make laws for the good governance of the
federation while Section 59 confers on the Legislature
final say on the budget. “Section 80 (4) on the other
hand, which confers on the legislature absolute power
of control over public funds, states: “No money shall be
withdrawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund or any
other public fund of the Federation, except in the
manner prescribed by the National Assembly”.
And the cheek of it: “The word manner confers absolute
legislative discretion. “When, therefore, the National
Assembly appropriates funds in the budget, it can never
under any circumstances or guise be deemed or
regarded as tinkering or padding’. What impudence,
what banality, both anchored on a stultifying ignorance!
If this fellow was not such a poor student, he should
not have forgotten the most elementary of what Dr
Abayomi taught him: simply, that Budget making is an
EXECUTIVE function and that it is the ONLY subject
about which the Nigerian constitution specifically
specifies the modus. According to Abayomi who has
been fighting this oddity since 2002 and has a case in
court about it, there is nothing like constituency project
since the National Assembly has NO power, whatever, to
insert any project in a budget.
Therefore, the only way legislators can help
constituencies is by lobbying the Executive branch to
have projects inserted in the budget. To do otherwise, I
hope they now know, is to sleep walk to jail.

Over 100 Muslims Attend Catholic Church to Worship with Christians

2,000 faithful who packed the 11th-century Gothic
cathedral of Rouen near the Normandy town where two
jihadi teenagers slit the throat of 85-year-old Father

Archbishop Dominique Lebrun told them. “In this way
you are affirming that you reject death and violence in
the name of God.”

lives and injuring 435 including many Muslims.

southwestern Bordeaux were a Muslim delegation, led
by the city’s top imam Tareq Oubrou attended the mass.
“It’s an occasion to show (Muslims) that we do not
confuse Islam with Islamism, Muslim with jihadist,” said
Reverend Jean Rouet.
The Muslims were responding to a call by the French
Muslim council CFCM to show their “solidarity and
compassion” over the priest’s murder on Tuesday.
Said a woman wearing a beige headscarf who sat in a
back pew at a church in central Paris: “I’m a practising
Muslim and I came to share my sorrow and tell you that
we are brothers and sisters.”
Giving her name only as Sadia, she added softly: “What
happened is beyond comprehension.”
AFP further reported that the most poignant moment of
Sunday’s mass in Rouen was the sign of peace, a
regular part of the liturgy when the faithful turn to greet
each other in the pews, either shaking hands or kissing.
Archbishop Lebrun used the moment to step into the
congregation and greet Muslim leaders attending, as
well as three nuns who were at the church in Saint-
Etienne-du-Rouvray when Hamel was murdered.
Outside the Rouen cathedral a few policemen and
soldiers stood guard but did not conduct searches,
seeking to reassure a jittery population after the second
jihadist attack in less than a fortnight.
Both of the 19-year-olds attackers, Adel Kermiche and
Abdel Malik Petitjean, had been on intelligence services’
radar and had tried to go to Syria.

through faith alone, and been brought to repent and
confess his sins before a holy, righteous God, therefore
he is paying the ultimate penalty for his sins in hell
forever.
He did not go to hell because he was a terrorist, a
Marxist, or a Communist.
He was sent to hell because of his rejection of Jesus
Christ. And i saw him myself in hell with my spiritual
eye, said Prophet TB Joshua addressing thousands of
his disciples.
This is not something we rejoice in, but it does serve as
a warning to all those who think they can mock God and
get away with it. Judgment will come because it is
appointed unto man once to dieand after that moment
the time of judgment arrives.

BREAKING NEWS:JAMB OFFICIALLY WITHDRAW 2016 ADMISSION LIST (see why)

In a statement issued on Sunday by Fabian Benjamin, spokesman of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), board has withdrawn the list of recommended candidates for admission earlier sent to the tertiary institutions.

The examination body explained that the decision was to ensure that the Senate of Universities perform their statutory responsibility of conducting the selection of candidates and refer it to JAMB for confirmation in line with the admission criteria of merit, catchment and educationally disadvantaged states as directed by the Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu, at the policy committee meeting.

The statement read;

“This is to ensure that the University Senate perform its statutory responsibility of conducting the selection of candidates and refer it to JAMB for confirmation in line with the admission criteria of merit, catchment and educationally disadvantaged states as directed by the Hon Minister of Education at the policy committee meeting.

 

“The earlier list was sent to help fast track the process of admission so as to allow other tiers of institutions also conduct their admission.

 

“Candidates should not panic because this is part of the process of the 2016 admission exercise. JAMB regrets any inconvenience this decision would have caused the tertiary institutions.

 

“The board regrets any inconvenience it’s proactive step would have caused the tertiary institutions.”

FCMB Bank Manager Olisa Nwakoby Commits Suicide In Front Of His Pastor In Lekki Lagos

Mr. Olisa Nwakoby, a manager at a second generation
bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc on Friday
evening shot himself dead in the presence of his Priest
at the Lekki area of Lagos Island, Lagos State.
The father of a 10-year- old daughter was said to have
taken his own life because of an incriminating huge loan
transaction he approved in his bank.
Sources close to the family told ST at the weekend that
the late Olisa was the approving officer for the loan
which the beneficiary is no longer servicing and the
bank was on the neck of Olisa to get the money back.
His late father, Chief Patrick Oguejiofor Nwakoby was a
former chairman of First Bank of Niger Plc, a
successfully lawyer , politician and a highly respected
community leader before his death.
Fear over his integrity and the name of his family, which
could be dented if his bank commences action against
him over the loan, was too much for the vibrant banker
to bear prompting him to shoot himself, our source said.
Our source did not say that there was suspicion of any
foul play in the death of the banker, she also could not
confirm the actual amount involved in the transaction,
but she simply said “it was huge.” The case is being
handled by homicide detectives attached to Area J
Command, Lekki/Ajah. According to a police source.
The banks, on the fateful day he killed himself, went to
meet his pastor. He told the pastor to tell his wife to
take good care of his children, that what he would do in
next few minutes would shock everyone. He was said to
have later blown his brains out.
The source continued, “It was later discovered that he
took money from the bank, N350million, and the money
started creating problems for him. He killed himself.”
When the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Dolapo
Badmus, was contacted, her two lines were switched off.

Nigerian Air Force Bombs Ijaw Militants Camps In Ogun & Lagos States , Kills 147 Suspects

The military yesterday claimed that over 147 suspected
Ijaw militants terrorizing residents of Lagos and Ogun
state have been killed.
The militants who reportedly fled to the South West due
to the ongoing military operation in the region have
killed over 50 residents of Lagos & Ogun in the past
weeks while few others were kidnapped.
The development has led to the desertion of some of the
affected communities by residents as many of them
continued to leave in droves until last Thursday when
the military commenced a raid on the camps of
suspected militants.
Speaking with our reporter, a local security source said
that casualty recorded on the part of the militants as at
yesterday afternoon might not be less than 150.
‘’The casualty as at yesterday as we were told was about
114 but this morning we heard that more of them have
been killed and that the figure may be up to 150,’’ the
source said.

Nigerian Woman Drowns, 2 Children Rescued On Sea Journey From Libya To Europe

A Nigerian woman reportedly drowned while taking her
children from Libya to Europe on board an overcrowded
boat on Friday.
According to Associated Press, two Nigerian kids among
the 150 migrants rescued by a Spanish agency revealed
how their mother drowned in the Mediterranean sea on
Friday.
The children (10-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl)
were seen crying as they comfort each other aboard a
rescue boat.
The Spanish NGO said over 3000 African migrants had
drowned in the Mediterranean sea this year alone.

Nigerian Army relocates special forces training school to former Boko Haram stronghold

The Nigerian Army has moved its
Special Forces Training School to Buni
Yadi, a town once controlled by Boko
Haram in Yobe State.
Created at the peak of the Boko Haram
insurgency, the Special Forces is
considered one Nigerian Army’s most
effective fighting unit.
While giving reasons why the training
school was moved from Niger State to
Buni Yadi, the Chief of Army Staff,
Tukur Buratai, said it was because of
the strategic location of the town in the
fight against the Boko Haram
insurgents.
“We know the importance of this place
– Buni Yadi. This is the route they
(insurgents) passed through to other
parts of the North East and even
Plateau in the North Central,” he said
while addressing troops at the training
school on Saturday.
“It is better for us to have dominated
and taken over the place,” the
Lieutenant General said while assuring
the troops of their welfare and logistics
need, including required equipment to
prosecute the war.
Buni Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba
Local Government Area, was controlled
by the Boko Haram for several months
before it was recaptured by the
military in March 2015. It is the town
where 59 schoolboys were murdered
by the Boko Haram as they slept in
their dormitories at a Federal
Government College in 2014.
The town is also the headquarters of
the 27 Task Force Brigade of the
Nigeria Army.
Speaking on Saturday, Mr. Buratai
assured that the military will restore
full peace to the North East in line with
the desire of President Muhammadu
Buhari.
He charged the troops to sustain the momentum of
ongoing counter insurgency operations to flush out
the insurgents.
According to him, “Operation Lafia Dole’ has entered
a critical stage. You must sustain the momentum;
there is no going back
“There is no time to waste. We want full restoration
of peace in the North East. That is what the
president wants,” the chief of army staff said.
Mr. Buratai later told journalists that he was in Buni
Yadi to see how the troops undergoing the Special
Forces training were faring.
He explained that the exercise was to make the
personnel resilient and be able to withstand
challenges they might face in the course of the
ongoing operations.

Police Drags 7 year old Boy to Court in Enugu…What the Boy Did Wrong Will Shock You

Chibuike Miracle Oramalu, a 7-year-old boy, has been
made to appear before a magistrate court in Enugu.
The boy has been dragged to court by the police in
Enugu for alleged murder.
According to The Punch, Chibuike, a primary two pupil
in a nursery and primary school, had on May 29,
accidentally fired a gun, which killed 12-year-old
Oluebube Boniface.
The incident occurred in the Independence Layout area
of Enugu.
The gun belonged to Mr. Edwin Oforma, who employed
Chibuike’s mother as a cleaner and housekeeper in his
house.
Chibuike accidentally fired the shot after discovering the
gun in Oforma’s room while making the bed, as he was
instructed by Chukwunanu, Oforma’s son.
Following the incident, the boy was initially detained by
the police from May 30 till July 13, when he was
released.
Although Chibuike’s mother, Mrs Nwakaego Oramalu,
and her lawyer, Mr. Olu Omotayo, of the Civil Rights
Realisation and Advancement Network, had raised the
alarm over the little boy’s detention, the Enugu State
Police Command claimed he was in “protective
custody”.
However, about two weeks after his release, Chibuike
was on Friday arraigned, before an Enugu magistrate
court over alleged conspiracy and murder.
The owner of the gun which Chibuike accidentally fired,
Oforma, was arraigned alongside the seven-year-old
boy before Magistrate Hillary Asogwa.
In the charge sheet, which was obtained by our
correspondent, Chibuike and Oforma were, in count one,
accused of conspiring among themselves to commit
murder.

22 was arrested by police in Kaduna State

The Nigeria Police in Kaduna State have arrested 22 persons suspected of committing various offence ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping and car snatching.The State Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Lemu, while parading the suspects at the command Headquarters, disclosed that theywere arrested at various locations in the state following a major operation by his men.The commissioner added that arms and ammunitions, four stolen vehicles among others were recovered from the criminalsHe explained that among the suspects include a 5-man kidnapping gang that had been terrorizing motorists along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway and another gang that specialized in car snatching.The commissioner however, reiterated the command’s commitment to rid the state of criminals and hoodlums as he said his men have been deployed to all high risks areas tocurb the menace. We are living in conditions equal to that of most Nigerians,”the former rivers governor said.

It also impacts on agriculture, agricultural produce, you can transport easily and it will impact on cost of production because at that point, you’re able to move the cargo at a cheaper cost.“And then whatever comes out of production, will be sold to the people at a cheaper cost.So basically, it has economic importance that would at the end of the day, impact on the socio-economic entities of Kaduna and Abuja.

So if a man is corrupt, don’t go to radio and TV, produce the evidence.“No Nigerian is thinking about it; oh Buhari should sack Governor Amaechi he’s corrupt, provide it, he doesn’t need to sack me. What will sack me is to provide the evidence in court; the president will have no choice but to relieve me of my position.
_”Amaechi, who refused to answer a question regarding his publicized truce with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, also spoke on political crisis in his home state.“_

No one can prove I stole Rivers State money – Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi,
has denied allegations of corruption against him.
Mr. Amaechi says as governor of Rivers State for
eight years, he was transparent and did not
embezzle money meant for the people.
He denied receiving over N3.1 trillion naira as
alleged by his successor, Nyesom Wike.
Mr. Amaechi spoke at a stakeholders’ forum on
corruption organised by the Federal Ministry of
Justice in Abuja, Thursday.
He said Rivers State became the first to implement
the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) act in
Nigeria during his tenure as governor of the State.
“If you had followed the Rivers State government
when I was governor, we were the first state to
introduce the Public Procurement Law in the
country. The state cabinet used to call the Director
General of Public Procurement in the state as an
alternative governor, that they wanted an
amendment to that law. The reason they wanted
amendment is that he (DG) refused to increase the
threshold to one hundred million naira, per
ministry, instead he reduced it to 10 million naira.”
“I had a battle with him (DG BPE) and the world
bank who insisted that we should not go for an
amendment but should persuade him to increase the
threshold. I remember the cabinet tried to go to
court against him and I remember that he was also
trying to go to court against Commissioners. In fact,
the procurement DG wrote a memo that I felt was
very incriminating requesting that since the law
requires the governor to take any commissioner
who doesn’t comply with the public procurement
law to court, I should please take the commissioner
of education to court for not complying… Everybody
in the cabinet felt that he was an alternative
governor, they felt that he was slowing the process,”
he said.
Mr. Amaechi said transparency in the use of public
funds was key to his administration as governor,
and that the Rivers community was fully briefed
periodically on how funds were being utilised.
“Within that period we insisted on engaging the
indigenous communities on how much we received
and how we spent the money. That is why I feel that
after this ministerial appointment, I should do
everything possible to stay away from government
because in spite of all the forms of transparency I
introduced in government, one man could begin to
tell lies to Nigerians and Nigerians believe him.
“The governor of Rivers State said I squandered N3
trillion naira. I did not receive up to N1.8 trillion
naira as governor both from IGR and funds from
federal allocation. So, how could I have squandered
money I did not even receive in the first place? You
can see the politics of lies and lies,” he said.
“As Minister of Transportation, I run an open and
transparent system. I believe in name and shame.
What name and shame does is, if you name and
shame those of them who don’t have conscience
they won’t come to public functions. I do have
conscience. In fact, it was the word corruption that
brought me to this occasion because I wanted to see
who will get up and say to me, ‘this is evidence that
you are corrupt.’
“We went to court against the Rivers State
government on their allegation of corruption against
me. The Court of Appeal said, produce that
document that found this man (Amaechi) guilty of
those crimes and up till today he (Wike) has not
produced it,” Mr. Amaechi said.
He urged the audience to draw closer to
government, pay more attention and engage political
appointees to an open government.
“Please come to all of us in government, all the
ministers in government and engage us on open
government. For me, for ministry of transportation
any information you want please write to us we will
not only give you, we will give you on time. This is
because all of us that have become ministers have
been entrusted by the President. His first policy is
corruption; the second one is economic
development. We have been appointed by the
President to go and do those following things to
ensure that there is fund that we save from the
people’s money to develop the community and the
community we have is the Nigerian community.
“Indeed you are our leaders, we are here by the
grace of God and by your grace and we believe that
you have the right to ask questions. We believe that
you have the right to demand accountability from
ministers. We believe that nobody has the right to
rise from just being an ordinary graduate of a
university by courtesy of holding public office, he
now owns mansions, cars…” Mr. Amaechi said.
