How Messi saved my Barcelona career – Neymar Jnr

Neymar has revealed that Lionel Messi takes the credits for jump-starting his Barcelona career in 2013.The forward moved from Santos to Barca that year, but struggled to adapt to life in Spain. However, after a conversation with Messi, his performances began to improve dramatically.“I have a nice story about Messi,” Neymar told CNN on Thursday.“Soon after I arrived, it was not a great moment in my career and he was the one who helped me. He saw that I was sad, with my head down, that things were not going right for me.“He told me to keep going, to be happy andto play the way I know. He told me this andhe helped me a lot at that moment in time.“He is a person who I admire a lot.”Neymar has gone on to form a fearful attacking partnership with Messi and Luis Suarez, popularly known as ‘MSN

Why Victor Moses Should Quit Chelsea & Transfer To Barca

The January transfer window opens in 32 days with big money expected to be splashed on players who have excelled since the new European season began in August. I’m excited that a Nigerian is the beautiful bride of European teams. Many club managers are thinking of offering Victor Moses long term contracts in the summer. Moses has earned three Man-of-the-Match diadems, playing for Chelsea at the right wing-back position, a place designed for the Nigerian by his Italian manager Antonio Conte.
What it simply means, if Moses doesn’t understand, is that the position is his for as long as Conte remains Chelsea’s manager. I also know that Moses understands that Chelsea’s owner is notorious for sacking managers who don’t meet his expectation. It follows, therefore, that Moses should not be cajoled into extending his contract based on his form. Rather he should follow his mind and head for Barcelona next year.
Chelsea would recruit massively in the summer, if it returns to the UEFA Champions Leagues. This means that Moses’ shirt isn’t guaranteed, even if Conte remains on board. I also don’t think that Moses will enjoy regular appearances with Chelsea now that Ivanovic is being introduced as his substitute. The right wing-back position isn’t Moses’ rightful position. My hunch tells me that Ivanovic may soon bench Moses, given the fact that it is his position. Besides, he is bigger and stronger, but not as skilful as the Nigerian.
I would advise Moses to head straight to Barcelona next year. In Barca, Moses will be able to express himself properly since much of the Spanish side is an embodiment of very skilful players with incredible team understanding. Besides, Barcelona’s manager Enrique will be playing Moses regularly since he is the one recruiting the Nigerian. In Chelsea Conte could be fired mid-season next year, if things go awry.
Moses should use the remaining part of this season to master playing at the right wingback position. A vacancy exists already in that position at Barcelona, which he could easily grab, no matter who is recruited in January to man it till the end of the season. Besides, Barca is a more stable club for skilful players, such as Moses, not Chelsea without a traditional style. Barca’s tikitaka (passing game) is legendary.
The English press has been unfair in analysing Moses’ form. Many Chelsea fans are wondering why the Nigerian’s talent couldn’t be recognised by Jose Mourinho. They have argued that Mourinho couldn’t bring out the best in Moses to command a regular shirt largely because the Portuguese likes playing big, strong and tall players with grit than smallish men with sublime skills such as Moses and Mata, even now that the Spaniard plays for Manchester United.
A few pundits in Moruinho’s defence argued that Moses was in Liverpool, Stoke and indeed West Ham and didn’t play as well as he is doing at Chelsea under Conte. But the truth remains that Moses cannot force himself onto the pitch if the coaches feel otherwise. Conte has shown that Moses is a versatile player. He needs to play for a formidable team that relies on playing as a unit than on one player’s yeoman effort.
It is for this reason that Moses should consider the Barcelona option, given the array of stars in the Spanish side and their pedigree in Europe. Barca is a constant fixture in big European competitions, winning trophies with aplomb.
Wednesday’s award as the best player in the Barclays English Premier League matches for November further enhances the need for Moses to accept the Barcelona option, which offers him better challenges.
Indeed, it has been quite a while since a Nigerian was voted the African Footballer of the Year. I feel strongly that Moses would thrill the world from September 2017, if he signs for Barcelona in the summer. Barca is always in the news. They may be tottering now, largely because Lionel Messi is injured. But the bigger picture is that Moses’ inclusion in the team would reduce the burden on the Argentine. Moses’ inclusion would give Barca the balance on the right flank that they lost when Dani Alves dumped them this season for Juventus.
I tip Moses to be the African Footballer of the Year 2017, if he makes the move to Spain. This doesn’t mean if he remains at Chelsea he wouldn’t be crowned. The truth is that as a new recruit, Moses would be played since there is a vacuum in that position, which means he would command a regular team shirt. I don’t think it would be the same for Moses with the Blues.

Referee Sends Off Footballer for Doing This Shocking Thing to an Opponent

A player was sent off after he embarrassed an opponent
during a World Cup Qualifier by pulling down his shorts.
Bosnia and Herzegovina striker Edin Dzeko was sent off
for pulling down his opponent's shorts

Bosnia and Herzegovina striker Edin Dzeko saw red
during a World Cup qualifying match after leaving an
opponent red-faced when he pulled down his shorts.

The incident came in the 79th minute when Bosnia captain Dzeko was on the receiving end of a rough challenge by Greek defender .
After the 6ft 5in Dzeko was bundled to the floor by Borussia Dortmund player Papastathopoulos, the two began tussling for possession of the ball.

When Papastathopoulos prized it from the clutches of the former Manchester City frontman, Dzeko grabbed onto the Greek’s legs and then yanked down his shorts. As an incensed Dzeko was rising to his feet, Papastathopoulos fell to the ground, provoking a mass fracas involving players from both sides in the corner of the pitch.

When order was finally restored, the referee showed the former Manchester City player a second yellow and then a red card.

Good News as Rotherham United Signs Osaze Odemwingie

Nigerian international, Osaze Odemwingie
Rotherham United have completed the signing of striker
Peter Odemwingie on a deal until January, subject to FA
and EFL ratification, SkySports reports.
35-year-old Odemwingie became a free agent after he
was released by Stoke in the summer. He becomes new
manager Kenny Jackett’s first signing, just days after
taking charge
The former Nigerian international was delighted after the
signing and said: “Rotherham and Bolton showed
interest over the weekend. Time is not on my side at my
age and the Championship is a bit closer to where I
wish to be."
“Thanks to Bolton for their interest in me but I’m really
pleased to join Rotherham. Kenny showed some interest
in me a few months ago and we have been in touch
since then. I am pleased he got a job and he offered me
a contract.
“My intuition said I’d be fine and that something would
come along eventually. Playing well in the Premier
League is still helping me now. Class is permanent, form
is temporary, so I just need to find my form. All the
movements are still there.”

Odemwingie had arrived at West Brom - his first English
club after joining from Lokomotiv Moscow. He scored 30
Premier League goals for the West Midlands club.

I Am Now Matured To Lead The Super Eagles - Mikel Obi

Mikel Obi ahead of Sunday World Cup Qualifying match
against Zambia: I am now matured to lead the Super
Eagles Ahead of the all important Russia 2018 World Cup
qualifying Group B match away at Zambia, Super Eagles
of Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi has said he is now
matured to lead the team.
“Sometimes when you are young, you make mistakes but
the more you grow up, the more you know the things
that are more important. “I think that I am beginning to
know where I come from and that is more important than
anything. “I have more responsibility now to lead the
country and the team; I think that is what I am doing
right now because I enjoy every bit of it,” he said.
The Chelsea midfielder said that the Eagles would use
the opportunity of the World Cup qualifying matches to
make up for not qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations
(AFCON) for two consecutive times. Nigeria has won six
of 16 previous matches (None of the 16 previous clashes
was a World Cup qualifying match) with Zambia, drawing
five and losing five.
Nigeria defeated Zambia 5-4 on penalties to win a
memorable Africa Cup of Nations final in Tunis in 1994.
Zambia walloped Nigeria 5-1 in the first -ever encounter,
a 1974 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Lusaka
on July 15, 1973.
Nigeria’s 3-2 win in the return leg in Lagos two weeks
later was of no effect. However, the Zambians have not
beaten the Eagles in a competitive match in the past 31
years while Nigerian on the other hand have never
beaten Zambians on their home soil.

Late Stephen keshi deserves the unofficial tag of African Mourinho ( See Reason)

Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh is called the
African Guardiola because of his insight to the game,
but the late Stephen Keshi deserves to be called the
African Mourinho.
Guardiola is the perfectionist, the philosopher while
Jose Mourinho is the pragmatist, the defense specialist,
a special one and ego filled psychological genius.
What more could seperate them but the fact that they
have both worked at Barcelona together, then separate;
while Pep led the Catalans and Mourinho their eternal
rivals in Real Madrid.
Guardiola and Mourinho will renewed their rivalry at Old
Trafford in the Manchester Derby which the Spaniard
won
Both are now in England and coaching the country’s
two richest clubs, the historical Manchester United is
led by the Portuguese and ‘noisy neighbours’ led by the
Spaniard.
Similarities between Mourinho and Guardiola are not far
fetched. As with most coaches today, both were once
assistant coaches at one point in their career’s.
But their similarities are more with their personalities
and man management skills. Keshi had his favourites
with the national team, like Mourinho has had with
different players at clubs at different points of his
career.
One perfect example is Super Eagles goalie Chigozie
Agbim. Keshi persisted with the shot stopper despite
the availability of better players.
Preference
The ‘Big Boss’ as late Keshi was fondly called was loyal
to a particular group of players and was not one to
change things dramatically via his line up or his starting
formation for matches.
Late Stephen Keshi
Mourinho almost never changes his line ups or
formations even during matches. The former Real Madrid
coach has persisted with a 4-2-3-1 formation since his
Madrid days, sometimes doing so when he does not
have the players to execute such formation.
Guardiola on the other hand changes thing before,
during and before the next match though he favours a
4-3-3 set up.
Keshi’s principles could be likened to that of Mourinho
Like Mourinho, Keshi was a ‘stubborn’ coach. He rebels
against authorities and is never afraid to say his mind.
What Mourinho is to the FA or UEFA, Keshi is to the
NFF.
With Mourinho’s various run in with authorities think
the number of times Keshi was appointed and sacked as
Super Eagles coach.
Additionally, Keshi is a serial winner like Mourinho is.
The Portuguese achieved the unbelievable with Inter
Milan back in 2010 when he defeated Guardiola’s all
conquering Barcelona side.
Keshi made sure he was not left out by leading the
Super Eagles to 2013 AFCON glory.
He did this despite the fact that the Super Eagles were
unfancied and the NFF reportedly booked a flight back
to Nigeria for the players and coaches before the
quarter-final clash against Ivory Coast which Nigeria
won via a Sunday Mba stunner.
It is safe to say that Keshi deserved more recognition
before he died from the media, fans, and the Federal
Government and to this writer, he would always be the
African Mourinho

Super Falcons will not underrate AWCON 2016 opponents – Omagbemi

Head coach of Nigeria’s senior women national team,
Florence Omagbemi, has warned his players not to
underrate any opponent at this year’s Africa Women Cup
of Nations in Cameroon.

Omagbemi said: “We have been playing against Ghana’s
Black Queens for years.
“I remember when the Falcons were newly formed, our
first game in the qualification series for the 1991
Women’s World Cup was against Ghana.
“We have played against Mali before, and we know they
are no pushovers. Now, Kenya are coming to the
African championship for the first time, but from the
way they qualified, after beating Algeria, they must be
respected.
“Surely, we will take the games against all three
countries as seriously as we have been doing in the
past. You know, we are the cup holders and every team
would want to beat the Falcons.”
Nigeria, who are the defending champions, will begin
their tournament against Mali on November 20. Their
next game will be against the Black Queens three days
later, before they take on debutants Kenya on November
26.
“This is year 2016. A number of teams on the African
continent have improved and we cannot afford to look
down on any team,” Omagbemi added.

“For instance, South Africa and Zimbabwe qualified for
and played at the Olympics in Brazil, at which we were
absent. They gained valuable experience.
“Coming back to our group, we just have to keep a
level head. The Black Queens of Ghana are very good
and we must be ready for them. But we have no reason
to fear any team. We are the champions of Africa. All we
need to do is to prepare hard and go to Cameroon to
defend our title.”

I Am Not The Sleepy One - Mikel Obi hits back at Terry

After being accused of dozing off even on short bus
rides, the Nigeria international has hit back at the
centre-back’s cheeky comments.
John Obi Mikel has jokingly hit back at John Terry after
being singled out as the ‘Sleepy One’ in Chelsea’s
dressing room.
The Nigeria captain thinks that another one of his team-
mates has escaped the title.
Terry told Goal : “Obi Mikel sleeps everywhere we go, on
the coach, it could be for a five minute journey and you
look around and he is asleep.”
But Mikel has finally had his say to hit back at terry’s
cheeky comments to tell his side of the story.
The Blues skipper gave a light-hearted look into the
inner sanctum of the Blues’ changing room back in
April, picking out ‘The Angel’,
‘The Romantic’, ‘The Toughest’ and ‘The All-
Round Best’.

Pillars will return to winning ways – Aggrey

Prince Aggrey is confident that four
time Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars will get
over its poor form on the road as from their next
match.
Pillars currently sit ninth on the log, eight points
behind leaders, Rivers United but conceding eight
goals on the road and scoring only one goal in
their last two matches on the road has become a
major worry for a club that won the NPFL trophy
thrice in a row.
Aggrey expressed concern over the poor results
recorded lately but he remained optimistic that an
antidote will be gotten before they head into their
week 36 fixture.
“It does happen to every team, that time results
just doesn’t come your way but we aren’t bothered
because we shall get over it soon,” Aggrey told
Goal.
“We are professionals and know how to find a
proper solution to this kind of problem.

Spent £30,000 On Players At Rio - Mikel Finally Opens Up

Super Eagles Captain and Chelsea
Midfielder, John Mikel bi has revealed he paid
money to save dream team at the Rio Olympics.
This comes after Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung
debunked rumours of any payment by the player.
“I think if we talk about the money that I put into
the team I think it was more than [£30,000],” Mikel
told Goal. “But we just had to do it.
“I said to myself, ‘I won’t let this happen. If I can
help, I’ll try to help’. Sometimes there was no
food, sometimes there was no pitch to train on,
there was no bus to go to the training ground. So
all of this was what me and the coach had to
figure out, and get money together.
“I came to the camp. I sat down with the boys in
Atlanta and I could see the frustration, the pain
and the anger. Their aim was to play in the
Olympics, their goal was to play in the Olympics.
And for me being there and seeing what they are
going through, they are young boys, they want to
start their career and someone in the ministry is
trying to crush that dream,” he said.

I will Never Manage Barcelona or Atletico Madrid - Carlo Ancelotti

Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti said he couldn't
accept a role as manager of either Barcelona or Atletico
Madrid after having managed their La Liga rival Real
Madrid for two seasons.
Ancelotti, 57, led Real to "La Decima" in 2014, helping
the club win their historic 10th Champions League title
by beating Atleti in the final.
Now the boss of Bavarian giants Bayern, who have been
drawn with Atleti in the Champions League group stage,
Ancelotti said the only way he could manage again in
Spain would be a return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Speaking to Marca, Ancelotti said: "No, I will never train
[Atleti or Barca]. I respect the history of the rivalry and
in the same way, I couldn't train either Lazio or Inter.
[Ancelotti played for Lazio's city rivals Roma and both
managed and played for AC Milan].
"It's my story and respect is very important. I have a lot
of respect for Atletico and Barcelona, but I can't train
them because I've coached Real Madrid for two years."
Ancelotti and Bayern travel to the Vicente Calderon on
Sept. 28 for the second match of their Group D
Champions League campaign and the Italian know he
may not get the warmest of receptions from the fans of
Real's crosstown rivals.
"The reception will be normal for a rival team and a rival
coach," Ancelotti added. "I'll do my job, which is the
challenge of winning at the Calderon.
"Things have not gone well for me there before but I
want to win with Bayern."
Bayern haven't won the Champions League since 2013,
but Ancelotti believes his team have the quality and the
temperament to once again be crowned Europe's best
club this season.
"They have missed out because of small details in the
past and we'll try to reach that turning point in the best
possible way.
"It's clear that our goal is to win the Champions League.
"I expect and want to win because I have never managed
a victory [at the Calderon] with Chelsea or Real.
"Bayern already know how good Atletico are because
they eliminated us last season. We've not forgotten."

Barcelona Plays Better Than Everyone - Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has nothing but praise for his former
side, Barcelona, as Manchester City prepare to face
them.
The Spaniard’s Manchester City has been grouped
with Barcelona in the group stages KC the UCL.
This will be Guardiola’s third and fourth fixture
against Barcelona, since leaving the club. He
recorded a 5-3 aggregate loss against the Catalan
club in the semifinals of the UCL.
“Is [facing Barca] sooner than I expected? It’s
whatever comes your way. We always have to play
the best, and there is no one better than them,” the
45-year-old told Catalan radio station Tot Costa.
“The three up front can make you so unbalanced but
there is also so much work behind the scenes.”
“How Barcelona play, you note that there is so much
work that has gone into it from Luis Enrique, and
they will keep doing it in the coming years.
“They are the best and it is a great test for us. We’ve
been given this challenge and we have to see what
level we bring.
“But [Borussia] Monchengladbach also worries me.
Today the Champions League starts in the first
stage, not the quarter-finals. You can’t make any
errors.
“But it is always lucky to be able to return to Camp
Nou and reacquaint yourself with friends.”

Transfer: Wilshere To Join Italian Giant

Roma have made a late bid to sign Arsenal midfielder
Jack Wilshere on loan, according to Sky sources.
Wilshere appeared to have choice between Crystal
Palace and Bournemouth as his destination on a
season-long loan.
It is understood Wilshere and his representatives
met Palace boss Alan Pardew on Tuesday afternoon
and Cherries manager Eddie Howe in the evening.
Both those meetings were in London and Wilshere
told Pardew and Howe he would inform the
respective clubs of his decision on Wednesday
morning.
But Italian giants Roma have now joined the race –
making a “significant effort”, according to Sky
sources – to sign the England man, with Wilshere
now having the option of a glamorous move abroad
to consider too.
The 24-year-old agreed with the Gunners last week
that he would go out to get regular games following
a series of injuries. Wilshere made just one Premier
League start last season.

Harrison Madu says Wikki’s coronation is done deal

Plans for the coronation party are
afoot in Bauchi where Wikki Tourists, the city’s
club has whetted the enthusiasm of their fans for
a first Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
title. It has been a near fairy tale run since the
club returned to the NPFL in the 2014/15 season,
finishing in the top five in their first outing and
now in strong running for the 2015/16 season
which has just six games to conclude.
Harrison Chimezie Madu is one of the players that
has been at the heart of the push for honours for
the Savannah Elephants and he is emphatic that
only the title will be sufficient for their efforts.
Madu is very upbeat about Wikki Tourists chances
of lifting the trophy and has hinged this exuberant
confidence in the quality of shift that the players
are contributing to complement the technical
inputs of Maikaba. He says their inclination to
dominate ball possession is a major plank of their
success and which has seen the club conceding
the least goals (21) from 30 games and enjoying a
hefty goals difference of plus 21.

NIGER REPUBLIC U17 3-1 NIGERIA U17: GOLDEN EAGLETS CRASH OUT OF U17 AFCON

Manu Garba’s team will not be defending their world
title after bowing to the Baby Menas in Niamey on
Saturday
Nigeria bowed 3-1 to Niger Republic in Saturday’s
second leg, second round U17 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifier.
Having won 1-0 in the first leg, Manu Garba’s boys
needed at least a draw to progress to the third round
of qualifier but they were unable to do their part as
they fell to the Menas.
With this defeat, the Golden Eaglet will not be
qualifying for the 2017 U17 Africa Cup of Nations
billed for Madagascar which serves as qualifiers for
the Fifa U17 World Cup in India.
Nigeria are reigning world champions having won the
2015 edition staged in Chile.
And for the first time in the history, Nigeria will be
missing out of Afcon, U20 Afcon and U17 Afcon.

IHEANACHO GETS ASSIST AS MANCHESTER CITY GRIND STOKE CITY

Though a late substitute against the Potters on
Saturday, the rookie had a hand in Nolito’s first strike
as the Citizens secured vital away points
Kelechi Iheanacho’s display against Stoke City
suggests he could be given more playing time under
Pep Guardiola as the season progresses.
After missing Tuesday’s Champions League game
against Steaua Bucuresti following his second half
appearance for the Citizens against Sunderland in
the English Premier League opener, many had
thought the Nigerian could be a fringe player under
Guardiola.
But a return to form by providing his first assist of
2016-17 season as City silenced Stoke City 4-1 is a
pointer that he could compete for a starters’ shirt in
the attacking setup that parades the likes of Sergio
Aguero, Wilfried Bony, Leroy Sane and Nolito.
With Iheanacho handed a new deal which puts him at
the Etihad Stadium until 2021, it would be an
opportunity for him to flourish and sharpen his skills
under the Spaniard who believes in his potentials.
“Kelechi is a natural goalscorer,” Guardiola said. “I
knew about him before, but I’ve been really
impressed with him since I arrived.
"I like his personality, his attitude, his ability – we
hope to help him reach the highest level and to
realise his full potential.”
The Nigerian would hope to feature for the Citizens
when they welcome Steaua Bucuresti in the
Champions League play-off on Wednesday as he
hopes to improve on his 14 goal tally last season.

Arsenal Ready to Spend Money - Wenger

Arsene Wenger says he is prepared to enter
the transfer market before the window
closes on 31 August.
The Arsenal boss has been criticised by
fans for a lack of signings in recent years
but his squad has suffered a spate of recent
injuries.
"I can reassure people we're ready to spend
the money we have," Wenger said.

"It's important to spend money but more
important to spend it the right way. There
are two markets, one for English clubs, one
for the rest of Europe."
The Gunners saw Aaron Ramsey and Alex
Iwobi go off in their opening Premier
League defeat against Liverpool on Sunday,
while Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Jack
Wilshere were injured in pre-season and
Danny Welbeck is a long-term absentee.
Wenger said Ramsey "should be back after
the international break", ruling him out of
league matches at Leicester on Saturday
and Watford on 27 August and making him
doubtful for Wales' opening World Cup
qualifier with Moldova on 5 September.
The 66-year-old Frenchman, who has been
in charge of the Gunners since October
1996, urged the fans to trust his judgement
and said he had completed over 400
transfers during his time at Arsenal.
"It is dangerous. English clubs suffocate
themselves by buying players at a high
price with high wages, if it goes wrong you
are left with players with high wages," he
said.
"The identity of the buyer multiplies
transfers by two or three or even 10 times
more."
